"What does local mean?" When referring to produce most people know organic, and home grown. Well locally grown produce means that the fruits and vegetables that you are eating are grown in your area. It does take a lot of work to get them, but it is worth it in the end.
"So do I want local, or organic?" Most people think organic is better for you, however in the past decade organic isn't as organic as you think. Yes, organic produce is grown on a farm without pesticides or harsh gases. However once they travel to get to the grocery store you want them to be in, they must be gassed along with the other produce to get there. Most local growers don't use pesticides anyways, and since they are local there is no need for gasses.
In the end you are helping out your community by buying local produce, and learning while doing it.
